Facts:

  •  Humans who lived on Earth 10000 years ago are called Paleolithic humans.


  •  Valuable information about early human life is obtained from the paintings of Paleolithic men on cave walls and the analysis of remains recovered from caves. 


  • Various colors were used in the cave paintings. The colors were made by adding plant broth and red powder. Most of his paintings are of animals.


  • A noteworthy feature of this period is the tools, weapons and ornaments made of rough stones.


  • Paleolithic humans ate fruits and vegetables. There is evidence that they cooked food and ate it.


  • Paleolithic humans hunted animals. Rough stone tools were used for hunting. Bone, pieces of wood and ivory were also used.


  • Paleolithic people lived in groups. The strong man of the group led the group. There was no gender difference between them.


  • Paleolithic humans used animal skins and tree skins as clothing. They were engaged in group recreation and hunting.


  • Bhimbedka, Altamira and Showe have yielded evidence of Paleolithic people and their lifestyles.


 Concept :

 Humans who lived on earth 10,000 years ago are called Paleolithic humans. We get information about the lifestyles of Paleolithic people from their analysis of cave paintings and remains found in caves.


Minor concept:

Paleolithic humans hunted animals in herds, so this period is called the hunting age.

Introduction

The teacher enters the class and establishes a good rapport with the children. The teacher asks some questions to check the children's prior knowledge.

  • How was the social life of early humans?

  • What kind of food did ancient people eat?

  • Where do we get evidence that early humans lived?

  • What occupations did early humans do?

  •  Who are these historians and archaeologists?

  •  Historians Archaeologists What facts do they study?


 The teacher takes into account the responses of the children. The class is then shown video clippings showing some of the characters in Malayalam films such as Bamboo Boys, Yoddha and Nell leading unsophisticated lives.




This video asks you to watch carefully and answer the facts given by the teacher.

 How different are the clothing, weapons, jewelry, and speech of the people in the video? Teacher collects student's opinion .


 The teacher then sings a folk song to the class consisting of some old couplets and engages the children. The video footage of the song is presented to the class as background.

 The teacher writes Paleolithic Age on the blackboard and enters the classroom, saying that we will learn about the early humans who lived such a primitive life.

 Presentation

 Paleolithic people are the people who lived on earth 10000 years ago. They led a very uncivilized life. With the help of cave paintings found in different parts of the world, we get information about the life periods of Paleolithic people and their lifestyles.

 Activity 1

 The teacher divides the class into two groups. The first group is called historians and the second group is called archaeologists. The teacher shows a video of cave paintings and models of cave paintings to the class. The video and models require careful observation. And it is suggested to discuss and find answers to the facts given by the teacher.

 After the discussion, each group presents their findings to the class with representatives chosen by the teacher. Then the teacher codifies.


 Consolidation

  • Paleolithic humans domesticated animals and hunted wild animals. Animals such as cows and dogs were domesticated
  • They used weapons and tools made of bone, ivory, pieces of wood and rough stone tools.
  • Their main livelihood was hunting. Cave paintings show that they pre-planned the location and the animal to be hunted.
  • Paleolithic humans lived in groups. They lived together in caves.
  • There was no gender difference. The powerful person in the group was leading the group.
  •  From the analysis of ash and food remains found in the caves, it is understood that they used cooked food. They also used animal fat as fuel to protect them from the dark cold in the cave. The discovery of fire is a feature of this period.


 Activity 2

 The teacher displays a map of some regions of different countries to the class. From that it is asked to find out the areas where Paleolithic man lived and in which country it was.
